So how do millionaires make the most important decisions in their personal lives? Lots of successful and wealthy singles use matchmaking services.

New York was recently named the best city for singles, and we know two top New York matchmakers who provide some great -- often surprising, but helpful -- tips on how to snag a rich one.

We sit down for a Q&A with both of them.

Lisa Clampitt is the president of VIP Life and co-founder of the Matchmaking Institute, a book author and a professional matchmaker since 1999.

NBC New York: Who are your millionaire clients? Why do they use a matchmaking service?

Flicker: Most of our male clients are between the ages of 35-60, have graduated from Ivy League Schools and have mastered their professions. We have clients that range from celebrities, CEOs, Doctors, Dentists, Attorneys and Inventors. What these men have is success and brains. What they don't have is TIME to find their partner. Just like most people including myself, I go to professionals to have my hair done, my nails, my facials and so on. The male clients hire me to weed out the garbage and find them a compatible match. Most people outsource everything else in their lives to experts, so why leave the most important part of your personal life to chance?

Clampitt: VIP Life male clients tend to range from late 20’s to mid 50’s, with varied occupations including CEOs, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, finance professionals, entertainment executives, doctors, lawyers, among others. Clients are often very busy and are ready to outsource their love life. Male clients tend to want it all, beauty, brains and a heart of gold. However, sometimes the skills that make a man successful in business, such as being the aggressive top dog that leads all the meetings and demands attention, are less impressive on the dating scene. A balanced conversation, curiosity about others, humor, flirtation and confidence with a touch of vulnerability are all key qualities in successful dating.

NBC New York: What are they looking for?

Flicker: Attractive, fun, polished, intelligent, classy ladies who posses “THE WHOLE PACKAGE” - beauty, brains and a body. Some men are searching for an athletic partner, or one who can travel, or a partner that has attended or has graduated from an Ivy League school. Some of our male clients have gone as far as to request a partner based on ethnicity from Asian, Latin, and American, etc. Some of our female clients have requests such as height, age or ethnicity, and just recently I have had a female client request a male partner who plays a musical instrument.

Clampitt: Men are visual creatures to begin with and when a man has it all, his visual expectations can become even more particular. But these days, looks alone don't cut it. Men are looking for it all; looks, style, personality, intellectual compatibility, good nature and in the end; LOVE. VIP Life works with the most discerning clients who are not willing to settle.

NBC New York: What are some tips on dating and keeping a millionaire?

Flicker: My advice to dating a millionaire is not to be intimidated by the word “millionaire”. Remember that if one has been chosen by me and I think you are worthy then you must be. Be truthful, Be sincere, be cool, calm and collected and most importantly, have fun and be yourself. Act like a lady and keep conversations on the first few dates light. Don't talk about failed past relationships or financial problems or politics. Remember that if it was meant to be than it is going to be. The easy part to my job and to all that are in search of love is to remember that chemistry comes from the man above. You can't buy it. You can't create it. It just happens. It is important never to give up and to continue to go out and date and date until you find your special someone and remember that life isn't supposed to be easy and where there is a will there is a way. Stay positive. Stay focused and enjoy the journey.

Clampitt: One of the biggest requests VIP Life gets from its male clients is that they want a sweet and genuine woman who is not angry or jaded. Flicker: Age 20-50. The chances are great. What is average for one guy could be spectacular to another.

Clampitt: From early 20’s to mid 40’s. They are beautiful and sophisticated women interested in having a long-term relationship with dynamic and attractive men that have proven their success within the business community, and these men want to meet women of exceptional beauty, grace and substantive intellect.

Beauty is to the successful man as money is to the attractive woman. That being said, the more important question is why is marrying a millionaire so important? The less boundaries and rules you put on the game of life and love the more the world will open up with limitless possibilities.

NBC New York: What are your fees?

Flicker: Men pay $20,000 and up a year. The broad range is set based on one location or multiple locations throughout the county. The women, if accepted pay nothing. We have full time recruiters working throughout the tri-state area searching for women that fit a certain criteria that MQI has established. After I interview the potential women, I use my gut instincts and decide whether or not that she fits the MQI criteria.

You're too smart to get drawn into one of those bogus lotteries or online dating scams designed to part you from your money, right?

A Berks County woman who contacted us had felt likewise, but she got conned nonetheless, and now wants to warn others.

A Nigerian scammer captivated the woman through online chats, eventually convincing her to send him $500. She was ready to transfer more money before discovering his name and photos on a romance scam Web site, and realized she'd been duped.

Another Berks woman recently sent $250 to a caller who claimed she would then receive $2.75 million from a lottery she wasn't even sure she'd entered.

"I knew it seemed too good to be true, and that you shouldn't have to pay to receive a prize, but they were very convincing," she said. So the woman, who is on a very fixed income, gave away what amounted to her rent payment.

There is no doubt that these scammers are skilled, so consumers need to stay alert.

Dating Advice: New Year's Resolutions. Who Needs Them?

Bah humbug? No, not really. I met several singles over the holidays who dreaded this time of the year and were happy for a chance at a new beginning. January is the single largest month for new subscriptions to online dating services. When they discussed their frustrations with online dating, I asked why it wasn't working for them.

Their number one reason was FEAR. Yes, fear. Fear has caused many singles to lie about their age to fit into a search. This isn't new. So, when a 59 year old fairly attractive male told me he said he was 55 in his profile and he wasn't planning on changing that number, I asked him, "Will you still be 55 when you are 60?" He had to think about the answer.

Most of us look in the mirror and think we look younger than we are. We see photos on Facebook from high school and college friends and they always appear older than us, or at least we think so.

I continued my discussion with the almost 60-year old man. He was concerned that only older women would write to him. Maybe some will. When I convinced him that he didn't have to go out with every woman who wrote to him, especially those that didn't fit into his search, he eased up for a minute. When I was positive that he wasn't going to tell the truth about his age, I asked him how he'd feel if a woman lied about her age and said she was 5-10 years younger. Although it's a common trend in cyberdating, he said it's a turn-off to him.

Finally, I asked him to make a New Year's resolution to update his profile. He was not going to say he was 59 as fear of turning 60 made him panic. He did reluctantly agree to adding a "disclaimer" in his profile saying that he was really 59 but looked and felt much younger and wanted to fit into a search. I asked him to be honest about his age. He said he'd try it. After all, he hadn't been successful in lying on his online dating profile in the 3 years he has been on multiple Internet dating sites.

It's a New Year. 2009 was difficult for many with the economic turbulence. The desire for singles to couple-up is at an all time high. Wouldn't you want someone to be honest with you from the beginning? New Year's resolutions. Who needs them? We all do, if we want 2010 to be better than 2009.

Dating Guide: If you are dating and over 40, then...

Dating is supposed to be a fun activity no matter what your age or experience with the opposite sex. That being said, here are tips to bear in mind if you are either coming out of a bad marriage and are in the market again, or are continuing to date till now.

Although there are no secret formulae to make your date a hit, there are, however, basics which are the same even today as they were when our grandparents, perhaps, were around. When it comes to dating, the three principles are: 1) relax, 2) pay attention and 3) be yourself. Some people may be setting the bar too high when it comes to dating.

Relax: This is of utmost importance. C'mon, it's not that serious. It's supposed to be FUN! Take a tip from the "younger" set and "just chill." Don't look at your date as the answer to all of your problems – your ills, shortcomings, things you didn't get as a child, things you did get and want to keep getting, or any other entitlements on your list. Rather, enjoy your date's company and look at the experience as a chance to make a new friend, or to be enlightened on a subject you knew little about before the date. Because at this stage of the game it means nothing, and therefore nothing should be read into the experience. Period.

Pay attention: From the first date to whatever transpires over the next few months. Remember, even though you're still "chilling," if you've gotten past the first few dates, it's time to show the other person you are sincere about getting to know them. Let's stop right here and think about that phrase (go back and say it out loud if you need to)...now ask yourself, did you really get to know the person during those first few dates, or were you concentrating on your needs again and what you want and expect? This is where many of us get into trouble – especially women.

Avoid tunnel-vision: 1) how much money he makes, 2) what kind of car he drives, 3) how does she dress, and keep an open mind about his/ her potential as a mate (if that's what you're looking for) based on what you've learned about him/ her already.

This openness can spare you from wasting time in dead-end relationships, because you'll find out all you need to know about the person simply by listening to them and observing their actions.

Be yourself: You’ve heard this before, but if you still find yourself acting weird on a date, then you've not been heeding to this warning. Keep in mind that the other person is nervous too; it's natural. Meeting a complete stranger (or if a friend introduced you, a once-removed-complete-stranger) can make anyone uncomfortable. By being relaxed and acting natural, you can help your date do the same.

Dating pet peeves
Now that we've got the principles of dating down, let me share my pet peeves.

Peeve No. 1 : The guy who has to tell me all his personal business in the first five minutes upon meeting him. This signals that he's impatient and wants to cut to whatever chase he has in mind. Usually, this man is scared to death of growing old alone and doesn't want to waste time.
What to do? Avoid this type like the plague and remember this: your 40-plus age doesn't negate the need to take your time.

Peeve No. 2: When a guy tries to impress with all the things he says he owns. But how do you know he's telling the truth? And besides, when you're over 40, you probably already have things and you're likely now looking for "substance."
What to do? Take it all with a grain of salt, be nice and when the date ends, rely on your gut to tell you your next move.

To be blunt, dating is a way to search the marketplace for someone who's compatible with your values, likes and dislikes. Things like who pays for dinner, whether you meet him at the restaurant or get picked up, or who calls whom first, is basically kids' stuff.

Do what you feel comfortable with and don't let convention (or your friends) rule. If it feels right it probably is, and if it doesn't feel right, follow your intuition, which at 40-plus should be nothing new.

"Married dating" classes promise to drag you and your partner back to the days when you were tearing each other"s clothes off and conversation consisted of more than "good night" at the end of each day.

Married dating classes attempt to school you back into being old romantics by using techniques including individual discussions with a consultant, tips on how to flirt with your partner again, how to dress to impress and how to surprise your partner like you used to.

"When you"re dating, everything is new and exciting," says Elect Club"s Haley Hill, who organises couples" classes. "But when a level of security is reached, we tend to slip into our comfort zone and that initial desire we felt for each other disappears."

The rise of married dating classes comes on the back of new research which states many couples are unable to divorce because of financial restraints.

According to the study by divorce firm Law Options, 60 per cent of married people are too scared to get a divorce because of the cost and more than a third would never leave their partner because of loans and shared mortgages.

For those who find time a problem, some class organisers such as Asian Dinner Club will not only send you out to dinner after your flirt class but will find a babysitter, book you a table and even get someone to vacuum while you are out so your boudoir is ready for romance when you return.

"The hardest part is actually getting people out of the house," says director Salima Manji, whose service will organise surprise "dates" throughout a six-month period and introduce them to other married couples at networking nights.

"During that time we will help you plan any important dates like birthdays and anniversaries and get your confidence back," she says. "Also, by introducing you to other married couples you take the burden of conversation off each other – we encourage you to make new friends and spend a little time apart."

Doctor Manoj Mistry, 35, and his wife, Sam, 34, from west London signed up for the Asian Dinner Club"s married dating classes after routine and work pressures had meant they had started to take each other for granted.

"I went on a “blind date” – with my husband," says Sam. "This happened after the club had given us both a bit of a style makeover so we looked sexier. Just arriving separately made it seem exciting again, like in the days before being married when you never fully know how the night will turn out."

Manoj was less enthusiastic to begin with but was soon convinced.

Know Who You're Seeing

Ascertain the kind of man you’re dealing with as soon as possible. This needs to be done tactfully. Ask questions to “authenticate him” and to find out who he is. A man should be willing to tell you what he does for a living and who he works for. If he says he’s “in business for himself”, ask what the name of his company is and ask what they do. (Women may wish to be more circumspect about where they work until they feel good about a guy which might take fifteen minutes or two or three dates. If you feel a man is being very coy, I wouldn’t see him again. Most men have little to fear from women and should be open with you. Having a man tell you “I work on Wall Street” doesn’t tell you very much. He may also be married, masquerading as single. Learn enough about a guy so that he could be “checkable”, even if you do not do it. Of course, if you know somebody who works at his company or lives in his area, tactfully ask about him, or have someone else help. You might get a good report, which can be encouraging, or you might learn something that will cause you to cross him off the list. “Men of mystery” may sound fine in movies and in books, but in the real world, know who you are dealing with as best as you can.

Personal Safety

If you exercise caution and prudence about who you go out with, and the situations you are in, most of the time the men you date will be gentlemen and personal safety will not be a dating issue. If you feel that a man's behavior is improper, say so. If he tries anything that is not welcome, be very firm in saying no. If he persists, tell him that "No means no. I expect to be treated like a lady." Never go anywhere isolated with someone you do not know well.

Watch your drink if you need to leave the bar or table. Some men have been known to slip drugs into them. If there is only a little of your drink left, finish it before you get up. Be careful how much you drink. It can affect how you act and respond.

Hopefully, you will never have to resort to the use of personal protection devices on a date, or any other time, but it is something you should consider. One safety device all women should have is a cell phone. Leave the phone on when you are out. Many of them are already programmed, or can be programmed, that when you push and hold on the "9", or other programmed key, it will automatically dial "911". Other personal protection products include pepper sprays and high decibel alarms. The products are available from many sources,including the link shown below. Check with a police officer or attorney in your community to ascertain what the law is with respect to the use of personal protection devices. It is against the law to take pepper sprays on an aircraft. Any products designed to further ensure your safety are ones you should take the time to consider.

There is also a digital pedometer/alarm which measures distance and calories burned which has a pull cord which when activated produces a loud panic alarm. Stay fit and safer at the same time. This product was mentioned in "Health Magazine" for women. It struck me as a very sensible, and additionally useful, safety device.

There are also a number of personal safety videos for women, self defense courses and other manners of protection you may wish to consider.

Always wear your seat belt and lock your car doors. Both will offer you greater protection in an accident. I was hit by a hit and run driver. My car was totalled when I lost control and went into a concrete median. If I hadn't had my seat belt on, I would not be writing this now. Be safety conscious.

I mention this as a matter of general safety, not specifically relating to dating. While there is no perfect advice on this point, a video developed by a former City of Chicago police officer recommended that if you ever are threatened by someone with a weapon ordering you to come with him, it is better to make your stand right there at "Location #1". Run and scream "Fire!", not "Help!" which people are more likely to ignore. If you are grabbed, use pepper spray, a personal alarm, gouge eyes, scream "Fire", bite, kick or do whatever you have to do. It is no time to be "a lady". The location an assailant would take a victim to, "Location #2", is only going to be more isolated and therefore more dangerous. I've mentioned these things not to unduly alarm you, but so you will think safety, be forewarned and better prepared.

Never walk in dark areas or stay in buildings where you are alone. Being "street smart" involves staying out of harm's way.

Always make sure that there is at least one person who knows that you are going on a date and when and where you are supposed to meet and what time you expect to be back. If you feel it is a situation where you don't want anyone else to know, write information out and leave it in your home or apartment in plain enough view for someone who might later need to look for it. If you are going out and a guy is picking you up in his car initially, or takes you out in it later in the evening, when you go to the lady's room or are someplace private, leave the car's license number, where you are and your date's name on an answering device at home or at work. You should always have your own cell phone with you, and again never go anyplace lonely with anyone you don't know well. As an additional precaution, if you know anyone in law enforcement, show them what I have written and ask for their advice about anything else that they, in their professional experience, feel that you should do to protect yourself.

Statistics in the UK show that single men outnumber single women by a considerable number, with over a million more single men than women, so why on earth are some women finding it impossible to find a husband?

Here are three reasons your Grandma found a husband but you can’t:

1. The Economy

Our Grandmothers were much more practical people, with “romantic notions” being reserved for the silver screen or a hot cocoa while you read Mills and Boon.

When it came to finding a husband they looked for a provider, a man with a steady income, clean habits and someone their mother approved of. A boring young bank clerk was considered a good catch because he could be a branch manager one day.

Dating opportunities were often limited to the Saturday night dance at the local church hall.

Likewise our Grandfathers grew up knowing they would leave school, find work and then start a family .. it’s just how life went. Playboys were rich and belonged to the upper class.

The economic boom of the eighties and early to mid nineties meant that Steve, the local estate agent, could live a cheap version of a playboys life.

He had his own “bachelor pad”, car, went clubbing every night and could sleep with as many girls as he could cope with (or would say yes) … why on earth would he want to give that up and swap it for a life of nagging and nappies?!

In short our economic situation allowed us to be far more fussy about who we chose as a life partner and therefore limited the number of potential candidates.

2. Technology

I remember my Grandma telling me about my great aunt (the family hussy because she married 4 times), as an actress she went off to Berlin and met, then married husband number three … ooo the shame of it.

For her generation the choice of men was usually limited to their own town or social circle, which limited their expectations.

For us the world is our slimy mollusc, we can now log on to the internet and in seconds be searching dating website databases with a few million members.

But surely that is good news, more people to choose from? Erm, no.

Suddenly the fella down our street seems a lot less attractive when there are chaps out there with sexy French accents or smouldering South American eyes.

So while we sit waiting for Antonio Banderas to come and serenade us Malcolm from down the road met some French tart and went to live in Paris.

We are essentially ignoring what is realistically on offer locally because we’re sure there is something far more exciting on offer in far off lands (or at least in another city).

3. Granny Held Out

My father often jokes about having spent a whole year trying to get his hand up my mothers jumper … bless him, he never managed it but wow did he have fun trying and he couldn’t wait to marry my mother to sample her delights.

Then the sexual revolution hit town and terms like ‘one night stand’ and ‘co-habitation’ entered our vocabulary.

Even my mothers generation had the sense to know you can lead a man anywhere, even to the altar, by his privates.

The next most obvious sign of a dating site scammer will be his or her username.

Often the username will also contain a string of numbers at the end, perhaps helping them exhaust a range of memberships or registrations with a site. For example 'Bob4real' may have '001' at the end.

The Description

The personality description used by the dating site scammer is probably the biggest giveaway and sometimes the most humorous (when you have gone through thousands of profile registrations like I have, you need to have the odd giggle here and there).

Most commonly, the dating site scammer will use the following phrases or word combinations in their personality description:

They either live in a common scamming country or region (Nigeria, Senegal, and Russia) or they will state they were originally born in the USA, London, Australia etc and are currently living in Nigeria, Senegal, and Russia etc.

They will start a sentence with "Am" eg. "Am Jennifer Smith by name…"

States they are god fearing, or have the fear of god in them.

The dating site scammer will describe themselves as "real, honest, sincere, loving, careing (often spelt like that), genuine".

They will often tell you about their tragic life story or history. Often this will include the death of both parents at an early age, they are recently widowed, they have a sick child or a child has died.

In combination with their life story, the dating site scammer may also claim to do saint-like activities such as work with disabled people and students, work for a charity such as UNICEF, or even work for the United Nations.

Alternatively, some dating site scammers (usually from Russia) are very sexual in nature and desire to be loved and cared for by you and to please your every desire, despite only having read your profile for 5 minutes.

The Photo

The photo used by a dating site scammer is often very professional - almost too professional. Photos will be very clear and appear to be a "pose" by a professional model. Alternatively, many male scammers from African countries will send a passport-like photo of themselves. It will be very grainy and somewhat aged.

Some photos may also appear to be everyday snaps, but are very tiny - almost thumbnail in appearance.

The Message

The message sent to you by a dating site scammer is almost always your first contact with them.

In most cases, the message is likely to be very self contained and not just a simple "Hi, want to chat?". It will include many of the keywords and phrases used in their personality description (see above) and will often request you contact them directly via their email address or to add them directly to MSN or your computer's Instant Messenger.

A good example of a typical message would be similar to the following:

So, what do I do if I think I have found a scammer?

If you believe the person contacting you fits the descriptions listed above, do the following three things:

Report the scammer to the dating site operator. On MillionaireCupid.com, you can do this by clicking the 'report abuse' button on the profile, or simply the contact link on the top navigation bar. They will investigate them.

If the scammer has listed their email address in their message to you, contact the scammer's email provider. In many cases this will be a free email service such as Yahoo! Mail or Hotmail. I have been a single person for almost 6 years. I have been lucky enough to be involved in a running group that socializes on a regular basis. Most of my close friends are members of this club. This, then, has been until recently, my source of dating options.

Rich romance leads to financial nightmare

The search for a millionaire mate online turned into a financial nightmare for women who were allegedly duped by a former Souderton man who convinced them to invest in his phony music business.

Paul S. Krueger, 50, who previously lived in the first block of Penn Avenue in Souderton, faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, theft by deception, deceptive or fraudulent business practices and Pennsylvania Securities Act violations in connection with the alleged scheme in which he swindled 13 people out of a total of $100,000 by convincing them he was a successful record producer and investor.

"The evidence shows that he took that money, did not invest it, and used it to fuel his gambling habit," Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman alleged. "He lived the high life on funds from other people. All the money that was stolen is gone."

Some of the women, according to authorities, met Krueger through the Internet dating service MillionaireMatch.com

"Some of the individuals who met the defendant on this particular Web site were on the Web site I suppose because they were looking for companionship. That is something that a lot of people in this day and age make use of the Internet to do," Ferman said. "They were active, vital women who have lives and careers and were looking for companionship. He was manipulating them. He was lying to them and he stole their money," Ferman alleged.

None of the women was from Montgomery County.

However, Krueger used a local check cashing business and a Souderton address where he received mail to carry out the scheme, authorities alleged.

One Texas woman who nearly fell victim to Krueger was a jewelry designer who regularly appeared on the QVC television network based in Chester County, court documents indicate.

Krueger was arrested at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City on Wednesday as he finished lunch there and lingered over a soda.

Krueger, who will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Robert Sander, is currently being held in an Atlantic County, N.J., prison without bail while awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.

Krueger, who allegedly claimed to his victims that he was a "high roller" who studied music technology at the University of Miami, lured several of his victims to Atlantic City casinos, according to authorities. Krueger, who claimed to have been nominated for several Grammy Awards, allegedly even told one of the victims in March that he was in Scotland producing a CD for Michael Jackson.

"From everything that we can tell, this is a complete fabrication. It is a complete scam. He never produced a record and he had never been involved in the record producing business or music industry," Ferman alleged.

At the time of his arrest, Krueger claimed to be homeless, according to authorities.

"He had a laptop computer and on that laptop computer he was able to communicate with many people. Homeless with a laptop gives you tremendous access to the outside world," Ferman said. "It speaks to the level of manipulation that he is able to achieve without a home, without a job, without any assets of his own."

An investigation of Krueger began last October when Souderton police received a tip from a federal Internet crime complaint center that a woman paid $10,000 to Krueger, who she met on MillionaireMatch.com, but received nothing in return for her investment.

Krueger allegedly told the woman he worked in the music industry for 20 years, was nominated for several Grammy Awards and was starting a company that manufactured DVDs, CDs and videos for which he needed investors, according to the arrest affidavit. The woman sent her investment to a Penn Avenue address in Souderton, where Krueger allegedly once lived and collected his mail.

To address that, I would write something like:

I'm always amazed at how the richest neighborhoods are also among the most empty. If you walk down any side street along South Ocean Drive in Palm Beach, Fla., even at high season, the only people you see are landscapers and contractors. At night, whenever I drive by the posh, all-glass Richard Meier towers in Manhattan, all the lights seem to be off, except for one or two apartments. The last time I was in Aspen, I drove through two of the highest-priced neighborhoods and didn't see a soul.

An article in London's Telegraph about Bishop's Gate, where metal-magnate Lakshmi Mittal is selling a place for £40 million, says that "a sizable proportion of the houses in The Bishops Avenue…appear to be empty and unloved. Windows are barred, drives are unswept and weeds are creeping through."

The question, of course, is why. I have three theories.

Today's rich are more itinerant that ever. They like to travel and are on the road or in the skies more often than any other generation of rich people.

They have a porfolio of homes. Forget the summer home. Today's superwealthy have four or five homes depending on the season or weekend.

Homes are for investing not living. During the real-estate bubble, the wealthy were buying up homes as investments not residences. That was especially true in top neighborhoods, where homes are expected to retain more of their value.

Is all this empty mansion space good or bad for society? It's bad if you're a rich person trying to get to know your neighbors, because chances are, you'll never meet them. (Last week, a Palm Beacher called me to tell me she learned about her neighbor for the first time by reading about her in Richistan). But it's a net positive for the tax base, since all these wealthy property owners are paying local taxes without using many services.

Online Dating Scams

What is it?
An online dating scam is when a scammer, male or female, creates a false personal profile and makes contact with you via an online dating agency or even a specialized chat room. The scammer says that they are seeking romance or a soul mate but are really out to steal not only your heart but your cash too.

Scammers can sign up to online dating agencies or chat rooms just like anyone else. Many online dating sites allow anyone to join for free, and they usually do not screen their members. Scammers take advantage of the anonymity of the internet to create the profile of your perfect match and make any number of promises to attract you and cause you to let your defenses down.

How do I know it is a scam?
The scammer will ask for your money! This will not happen immediately - however, before long the scammer will ask for financial help for any number of reasons. Almost always, they will ask you to send money using an untraceable source such as a telegraphic money transfer. Some of the most common reasons they give for why they need your help include:

• I want to meet you but I don't have enough money to travel to see you

• I have been robbed and beaten, I require urgent surgery or treatment for a serious illness or me or my family member has been a victim of a serious or fatal accident and you are the only person who can help

Financial Institutions advised Fraud Investigators that they have been receiving information and complaints from customers that they have been receiving phone calls from blocked callers identifying themselves as an employee of the financial institution and are advising the customers that their Pin number on their convenience card will expire in five days and inquire if they would like to change the Pin number. Pin numbers do not expire. Do not give your Pin number out to the caller and report the call immediately.

Do not become a victim of these scams.

We arrived at a trendy looking bar for our first experience of speed dating. Walking through the doors with a slight air of anxiousness, we were greeted at the door by two organizers. Taking our names, they gave us the essential equipment for the night: - a sticky label with our name on it to wear, a seat number, scorecard & pen - all you need for a night of serious dating!

Heading straight for the bar, we purchased our first couple of steadier's for the evening, something to calm the nerves and raise the confidence. Definitely needed when faced with an evening of meeting 10 single men and being forced to make small talk!

We positioned ourselves by the bar while waiting for others to arrive, with one eye on the door to check out the talent (and the competition) as they arrived. We spot a couple of potential single men together with some steep female competition. Date Six- Mark, city broker, well travelled, most definitely a ladies man. hhmm, ditch.

Date Seven- Dan, ching ching! Instant attraction and had a laugh chatting away, time went too quick. Definite Date! So hope he ticks me too!

Starting to flag, with distinct air of Ground Hog Day and counting how many more single men I have to meet. Can't believe I'm beginning to complain! This should be heaven, but it's just so tiring!

Date Eight- A Scottish guy who isn't enjoying speed dating and thinking about going home. Please do, I could do with a break! Ditch!
